Mulga Bill’s Bicycle

‘Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze;
He turned away the good old horse that served him many days;
He dressed himself in cycling clothes, resplendent to be seen;
He hurried off to town and bought a shining new machine;
And as he wheeled it through the door, with air of lordly pride,
The grinning shop assistant said, “Excuse me, can you ride?”

The long summer break ends. I never enjoyed heading back at the end of summer. I wasn’t much interested in school life even though I did quite well, I just found it restrictive. I suppose I’ve always fought against that.

Pick-up time in Chengdu, China. The only difference I can see is that around here the kid would have been picked up from school in a 4WD and it seems, you can’t talk on a mobile phone and ride your push-bike at the same time.

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province and the political and economic centre of Southwest China. It is a city of 10-11 million people and is the fourth largest Chinese city based on population. Chengdu borders the Tibet Autonomous Region.
