Pittwater Council just love signs. In fact, the more the merrier. Here’s one I really love telling you that rocks might fall from a cliff. The path where the sign is leads to Bilgola Beach pool and along with the car parking, no dogs, no swimming here, no surf boarding there, the Council erected this and other signs to warn you that rocks might fall on your head from the cliff above — a bit hard to believe since they wrapped the whole dam cliff in wire mesh a few years ago

Waves at Bilgola 3

Snapshot by Inge Fuglestved
Life Is Fine
I went down to the river,
I set down on the bank.
I tried to think but couldn’t,
So I jumped in and sank.
I came up once and hollered!
I came up twice and cried!
If that water hadn’t a-been so cold
I might’ve sunk and died.
But it was Cold in that water! It was cold!

Warm water, a sunny day and a nice clean pool. Why don’t I swim more?
Early Morning Swim

Around here lots of people swim in the early morning. The young and the not so young grab their boards and take to the surf before heading for the traffic-jam. Quite a few people use the many ocean pools we have to do morning laps or just bob. It’s something I admire, but have never done. I’m a bit scared of water maybe because I’m not a strong swimmer.
I Watch the Waves

I Watch the Waves
by me
I watch the waves. I watch them swell large and larger, and then at the zenith of their existence, at the very moment when they are at their tallest, when the gods and the universe have given them every ounce of majesty they can offer — and just before they fall, it’s then that I watch their tears lifted high by the endless breeze. The waves curl and crash and tumble onto the sand, and then they run and run and run until they touch my waiting feet, and finally they become less and less. Their beauty, shape and wholeness gone. They change, they disappear, to become the ocean.

oh yes
there are worse things than
being alone
but it often takes decades
to realize this
and most often
when you do
it’s too late
and there’s nothing worse
than
too late.

Not much rain around these parts at the moment. I like the sun and the warmth, but it would be nice if it rained soon — our dams are on the low side and the plants need a drink. I miss the rain, it’s kind of an important part of life.
